Let'S Get Green Foundation

B-9/4 in DLF Phase 1 is a busy little corner. We have a small yard where we keep a bunch of saplings and pots. It’s not a nursery exactly, but it looks like one. People walking by in Gurgaon often stop to see what we are planting. We started this because the city is getting so gray with all the new buildings. We wanted to see more green. It’s hard work because the heat here kills everything if you aren't careful. We spend a lot of our mornings watering and checking the soil. We aren't experts, we just learned as we went along. The neighbors sometimes give us their old pots or spare dirt. It’s a community thing. Our office is just one room with a lot of muddy boots by the door. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If the bell rings, one of us just wipes our hands and answers it. We talk to schools and local groups about planting trees. Sometimes we go out and do it ourselves. It’s tiring and the Gurgaon traffic is a nightmare when we have to move plants around. But we like it. It feels better than sitting at a computer all day. We just want to see a few more leaves on the trees around our neighborhood. We keep a list of all the places we have planted things on a big map on the wall. It’s getting quite full now.
