Kalyani Hospital

If you’re driving down Mehrauli Road, you’ve probably passed us a dozen times. We are tucked right there on the main stretch. It’s a busy road, so there’s always the sound of horns and engines outside our windows. The building itself is older, maybe thirty years or so, and it has that specific smell of medicine and floor cleaner. I work at the front desk mostly, and I see everyone from local shopkeepers to people just passing through. It’s a straightforward kind of place. We have a few doctors who have been here since the beginning. They don’t say much, they just get to work. The waiting area is small, so it gets tight when a whole family brings in one person, which happens a lot. We don’t have a fancy coffee machine, just a water cooler that sometimes leaks a little on the tile. People come to us for the usual stuff. Fevers, coughs, getting bandages changed. We aren't trying to be the biggest place on Mehrauli Road, just a reliable one. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone knows it’s Kalyani Hospital. We keep the doors open late because you never know when someone is going to need a bit of help. It's a lot of work, but the neighborhood relies on us being here day after day.
