Living in DLF Phase III 1 means you know how much we rely on backup power. Our shop, Gurgaon Battery, is right here in the mix of things. It’s a practical kind of place. You walk in and you’ll see stacks of heavy black batteries and inverter units everywhere. It smells a bit like lead and plastic sometimes, which is just part of the business. When the power goes out in the middle of summer, that’s when the phone starts ringing non-stop. Everyone wants to know if their battery can be saved or if they need a new one. We spend a lot of time testing cells and checking water levels. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s what we do. I usually have grease on my hands by noon. We also handle car batteries, so people often pull up right in front when their engine won't turn over. We take the old ones back and get them sorted out properly. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stay organized or we’d run out of space to move. It gets busy, especially before the monsoon season starts. We’ve been at this for years, just helping neighbors keep the lights on. We don't use big words or fancy promises. If the battery is dead, we show you why. That’s how we’ve always run things here in this corner of Gurgaon. It’s a simple trade and we keep it that way for everyone who comes in.
