Girls X Tech Foundation

We’re down in the basement of Plot 105 in Sector 44. It sounds a bit hidden away, and I guess it is, but it’s where we get all our work done. Gurgaon is full of these big glass buildings, but we are much more low-key than that. We focus on getting technology into the hands of girls who might not otherwise get the chance to use it. It’s not just about computers, though. It’s about giving them a space where they don’t feel shy to ask questions. We have a few old laptops and some desks we found. It gets a bit stuffy down here when the fans aren't working right, but nobody seems to care once they start working on a project. Rewari is nearby, and we see people from all over this part of Haryana coming through. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy entrance. Half the time, the sign outside is leaning a bit to the left. But inside, there is a lot of learning happening. We aren't experts in everything, we just know enough to help them get started. Sometimes the internet is slow and we all have to wait around, but that’s just how it is. We wanted to do something that actually makes a difference for the families living around here. It’s hard work and the hours are long, but seeing someone finally understand a piece of code is a good feeling.
