Shed No 407 is where we do all our work, tucked away in Sector 14. It’s right behind Kalyani Hospital, so it’s actually a bit quieter back here than you might think for an auto shop. We spend most of the day fitting seat covers, putting in new floor mats, or messing around with car stereos. It’s a lot of hands-on work, and the shed can get quite cramped when we have a couple of cars inside at the same time. We have rolls of fabric and boxes of lights stacked up along the walls. It’s not a showroom with bright lights; it’s a working space where things get done. Sometimes we get people coming in after they’ve been to the hospital, just looking to get something small fixed on their vehicle while they wait. The floor is concrete and usually has some bits of wire or plastic scraps on it from the latest job. I started this place because I liked working with cars, and now it’s just a daily routine of helping people make their rides a bit more comfortable. We have a small bench outside where customers can sit while we work, though most of them prefer to stand and watch what we’re doing. The afternoon sun hits the metal roof of the shed, making it pretty warm, but we just keep the doors wide open to catch whatever breeze comes through the sector.
