I work at the Saudamini building in Sector 29, Gurugram, which is the main office for Power Grid Corporation Of India Ltd. It’s a big, tall building on Plot No. 2, and it’s a bit different from the smaller shops in the city. Even though it’s a large company, the daily life inside is just a lot of people at their desks trying to keep the electricity moving across the country. The traffic in Gurugram is a nightmare most mornings, so just getting into the office can be a bit of a struggle. Once you’re inside, there are always meetings happening or people rushing down the halls with stacks of files. It’s a lot of responsibility because if something goes wrong with the grid, it’s a big deal for everyone. We have a lot of computers and screens showing maps and lines that most people wouldn't understand. The building is clean and has air conditioning, which is a relief from the Haryana heat, but it still feels like a place where real work happens. Lunchtime is when everyone heads to the canteen and you hear about the different projects going on in other states. It’s not just about wires and towers; it’s about the people here making sure the lights stay on for everyone else. It can be stressful when there’s a storm or a technical glitch, but we have a good group that knows what to do.
