Dr Prakash Memorial Hospital

This hospital has been sitting right here in the New Colony Market area for a good long time. It’s a busy spot, especially on market days when everyone is out doing their shopping and running errands. We handle all sorts of things that come through the door, from small scrapes to people who are feeling really under the weather. The building itself is part of the old market landscape now. Being at 1 New Colony Market means we see a lot of the same faces over the years. It’s not a massive place with hundreds of beds, but we manage to keep things moving. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we all know the shortcuts and the local news. Sometimes the waiting room gets a bit crowded, especially in the rainy season when everyone seems to catch a cold at once. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. People just know where we are. It’s a lot of hard work keeping a hospital running 24 hours, but we’ve got a rhythm down now. We try to keep the floors scrubbed and the lights bright. It gets noisy outside with the market sounds, but inside we just focus on the patients. We deal with whatever comes our way, trying to be helpful to the folks in the colony. It’s a straightforward job, really. Just looking after people when they need it most and making sure the community has a place to go.
