Bangkok Degree Nine

Bangkok Degree Nine is located up on the third floor on M G Road and it can be a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up like it sometimes does. Being up here gives us a bit of a break from the street noise below, though you can still hear the horns honking if the windows are open. We spend a lot of time chopping up galangal and lemongrass in the back. The kitchen is small but we have it organized so we don't trip over each other too much. We get our herbs delivered early every other morning and the smell of fresh basil is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It is just a simple setup with some tables and chairs where people can sit down after shopping or working nearby. We aren't trying to be some high-end lounge. We just like cooking Thai food and keeping the place clean. The light on the third floor is actually quite nice in the late afternoon. Sometimes the kitchen staff listens to music while they prep the shrimp and chillies. It is a lot of work keeping the sauces consistent, but we have a good rhythm going now. M G Road is always busy so there is never really a quiet moment until we lock up for the night and head home.
