Astha Hospital

Being located on Sohna Road means there is never a quiet moment outside the doors of Astha Hospital. The traffic is constant, and you can hear the rumble of trucks and cars all day long. We’ve become used to the noise by now. Inside, the atmosphere is different, though it stays busy with people coming and going. The waiting room has these old wooden benches and some plastic chairs that have seen better days. We don't spend much money on fancy decorations because we’re mostly focused on the patients and the paperwork. The hallways are narrow, and sometimes the medicine smell is a bit strong, but that’s just how it is in a place like this. Our staff usually brings their lunch from home, so around noon, the break room smells like home-cooked dal and rotis. We have a lot of registers to fill out by hand, and the pens are always running out of ink at the wrong time. It’s a plain place, really. We don't have a big lobby with fountains or anything like that. People from the surrounding Sohna Road area know where we are, and they just walk in when they need help. The lights flicker once in a while when the power shifts, but we just keep going. It is a practical space where real work happens every day, and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't.
