Kailash Khadi

You can find Kailash Khadi located near the Meera Rice Mill and the Bank of India. It’s a well-known area, so most people don't have trouble finding us. Our shop is simple and reflects the kind of material we sell. Khadi is a humble fabric, and our place matches that. We have wooden shelves filled with different rolls of cloth. The smell of the rice mill nearby sometimes drifts in, which is just part of being in this neighborhood. We spend our days helping customers pick out the right weight and color of fabric. We aren't a big chain store. It is just a few of us here. We use a manual scale and write out receipts by hand. It’s a slow pace compared to the big malls, but that is how we like it. We have a couple of benches where people can sit and talk while we measure the cloth. There’s no flashy lighting or loud music. We just focus on the fabric and the people who come in. Sometimes the stock takes a while to arrive, but we don't worry too much about it. We’ve been near the Bank of India for a long time, and we know most of the people who walk past our door. It is a quiet, honest way to make a living, and we are happy to be a part of the local community here. We usually keep the front door propped open for a breeze.
