Uttrakhand Peyjal Nogam

Our office is up in the Babugarh area, which falls under the Vikas Nagar post office in the Dehradun district. Being part of Uttrakhand Peyjal Nogam means we are usually thinking about water and the local infrastructure. Up here, the weather is a lot different than in the plains. It gets quite cold in the winters, and we all huddle around with our sweaters and hot tea. The building is a basic government-style structure, nothing fancy at all. We have the usual stacks of files and old wooden cabinets that have been here since before I started. Vikas Nagar is a nice town, and the hills aren't too far off in the distance. We don't have a big corporate culture or anything like that. Most of us have lived in Dehradun our whole lives, so we know the area like the back of our hands. People come in with their questions or problems, and we just talk to them across the desk. It’s a very human way of doing things. We don't have some big fancy statement on the wall about our goals; we just know what needs to be done every day to keep the water moving. It’s a steady job in a beautiful part of the country, and we don't ask for much more than that.
