This is the office for the University of Arizona's work here in India, located at C2, 743 Jade Homes in Ansals Palam Vihar, Gurgaon. It’s a residential-feeling area, which makes the office feel a bit more relaxed than the big glass towers in the rest of Gurgaon. We handle things related to the university, mostly helping students or dealing with paperwork that needs to go back to Tucson. It’s a long way from Arizona, but we keep things running here. The office is inside a housing complex, so it’s pretty quiet. We have a couple of desks and a printer that jams sometimes. There are only a few of us here. We spend a lot of time on emails because of the time difference with the US. Often, we’re finishing up just as they’re starting their day. It’s a bit of a strange schedule sometimes. We don't have a big cafeteria, so we usually just bring lunch from home or order something from a local place. It’s a practical setup. We’re just here to make sure the connection between this part of Haryana and the university stays solid. We handle documents and answer questions. It’s not very glamorous, but it’s important for the students. We’ve been in Palam Vihar for some time now and it feels like home. The guard at the gate knows us all by name. It’s that kind of place where things are steady.
