S Pal & Associates

If you go out to Plot No. 69 in Sector 10 of Gurgaon, that is where you will find S Pal and the rest of us. The area is full of warehouses and small offices, so it’s a lot of concrete and trucks moving around. We have a fairly large space compared to some of the others. There are rows of desks and some very old computers that still work just fine for what we need. The air conditioner makes a rattling sound, but it keeps the Delhi heat away. We spend a lot of time on the phone with contractors and suppliers. It’s a lot of coordination work. We have blue rolls of drawings everywhere. Sometimes they get mixed up, and we have to spend the morning sorting through them. The tea lady comes by at eleven and four. Everyone stops what they are doing for ten minutes then. It’s a good group of people here. Some have been with the firm since it started. We know each other's families and what we like for lunch. The commute can be rough with the traffic on the highway, so we try to leave before the rush. It is a practical office for people who do practical work. We don't have any art on the walls, just maps of the city and some structural diagrams. It’s loud, it’s busy, and there’s always something that needs to be fixed or signed.
