Monika Nursery

You can find us right opposite the Power House, near Garden Estate on Mehrauli Road. We are pretty close to the City Court in Sikandarpur. Being a nursery in Gurgaon means we are always dealing with the heat and making sure everything gets enough water. It’s a lot of physical work, moving pots around and getting our hands dirty every single day. We’ve got all sorts of plants sitting out here, from the small ones that people put on their desks to the bigger palms that need a lot of space. The road outside is always loud with cars going towards Mehrauli or back into the city, but inside among the rows of greens, it feels a bit different. We spend most of our mornings checking the leaves and making sure the soil is okay. It isn't a glamorous job. We deal with bugs, the sun, and heavy bags of manure. People come in looking for something to liven up their balconies because everyone in these flats wants a bit of nature. We show them what works in this Delhi weather and what will probably just die if they don't water it. It’s a simple life here in Sikandarpur. We have been in this spot for a while now and most of our neighbors know us. It’s just us and the plants, really, trying to keep things growing despite the Gurgaon pollution and the constant noise.
