Samdong Mercantile

Samdong Mercantile is located in Mahadeva Tower, which is right by the New Railway Road and the Sector 4/7 Chowk. It’s a very busy intersection near the Axis Bank on Jharsa Road. If you know this part of town, you know it’s always crowded with cars, rickshaws, and people shopping. We are up in the tower, and from our windows, we can see the chaos of the chowk all day long. We do mercantile work, which basically means we handle trading and various business transactions. The office is usually full of papers, folders, and the sound of people talking on their phones. It’s a functional space—nothing too stylish, just desks, chairs, and computers. We have to deal with a lot of different suppliers and customers, so there’s always something new happening every week. Sometimes the power goes out in the building and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which gives us a quick break from the screens. We’ve been based in Mahadeva Tower for quite a while now, and we’ve seen shops come and go around the Sector 4/7 area. We like being near the bank because it makes the daily errands a bit easier to handle. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the logistics of our trades are moving along. We just keep our heads down and get through the pile of work on our desks until it's time to head home.
