Manesar is quite a long drive from the main city. We are located at Plot Number 4 in Sector 4 of the IMT area. It is a large industrial zone, so everything looks a bit the same when you first arrive. There are lots of gray buildings and wide, dusty roads. Our place is a bit tucked away in a corner. It is a functional space, mostly meant for the day-to-day work we do. There are no fancy rugs or expensive paintings on the walls here. Just desks, computers, and a lot of sketches lying around the tables. The air in Manesar can be a bit thick because of all the construction happening nearby. We have a small canteen area in the back where we sit for our tea breaks. The water cooler is always making a loud humming sound that you eventually stop noticing. Most of the staff comes in by the company bus or their own motorbikes. It is usually a long day for everyone. We spend hours looking at designs and talking about different fabrics and materials. The windows are large but they mostly look out onto the other industrial plots nearby. There is not much of a view, really. Sometimes we get a stray dog wandering into the compound, and we give it some biscuits. It is a quiet environment compared to the city markets. J. J. Valaya Design has been in this sector for some time now. It is just where the work happens.
