Our workspace is tucked away in the basement suite at 58P in Sector 55. It is a bit of a hidden spot, but it works well for what we do. Because we are in a basement, it stays relatively cool in the summer, which is a nice relief when we are working long hours. We are a small team and most of us have known each other for a long time. The office is packed with files, material samples, and stacks of old drawings that we probably should have put in storage years ago. We do not follow any kind of strict corporate dress code. Usually, we are in jeans and sneakers because we are often hopping in the car to go look at a project site somewhere. We spend a lot of time talking through design problems together. If a plan isn't working, we all sit around and try to figure out a better way to handle it. It is not about who has the best idea, just about what actually works for the client in the end. We have a small kettle for making tea and a microwave that has definitely seen better days. It is a very grounded and relaxed environment. We do not use fancy industry jargon when we talk to people; we just explain things in plain English. Clients usually appreciate that we do not try to overcomplicate things. Sector 55 is a nice area, and being downstairs gives us some peace and quiet.
