Gee Home Fashions

If you head over to 68, Sector-18 in the Huda area, you’ll find our building. Gee Home Fashions is basically a place where we handle textiles and home stuff. It’s a wide street, which makes it easier for the trucks to come and go compared to the old parts of the city. Inside, it’s mostly racks of fabric and samples of curtains or bedsheets. We have a couple of large tables where we roll out the cloth to check for snags or stains. It’s quiet work for the most part. The air conditioner in the main office area makes a loud humming noise, but we’ve stopped noticing it. We aren't into big fancy marketing; we just show people the fabric we have and let them feel the quality. Most of the people who work here have been with us for a long time, so we don't need to explain much to each other anymore. We just get on with it. The Huda sector is mostly offices and warehouses, so it’s not very residential. We usually bring our own tiffins for lunch and eat in the break room. Sometimes the courier is late and we have to stay an hour or two extra to make sure the boxes are taped up and ready. It’s not a glamorous life, but we like the work we do with the fabrics. It feels good to see a finished product packed and ready.
