Our office is on the ground floor of 1383 Maruti Vihar, which is in the Chakkarpur area of Gurgaon. It is a pretty well-known residential colony, so it’s easy to find once you get into the lanes. Being on the ground floor is quite nice because it stays a bit cooler during those really hot Gurgaon summers. DLF Laing O'Rourke India Ltd has been using this space for a while now to keep track of our local activities. It’s a straightforward setup. We have a few rooms where the team sits with their laptops and piles of paper. We don't have a big fancy lobby or a security desk at the front. You just walk in and we’re there. Chakkarpur is a busy area, but Maruti Vihar itself is a bit more settled. We get our work done without much distraction. There is a small kitchen area where we make tea, and we often just eat lunch at our desks while talking about the projects. It’s a very informal vibe, where people wear what they want and talk plainly. We don’t use a lot of big words or have long, boring presentations. We just look at what needs to be built, who is doing it, and when it needs to be finished. It’s a practical, everyday kind of office for people who just want to get the job done.
