Working on the 15th floor of Tower B means we spend a lot of our time waiting for elevators. This building in DLF Cyber City is pretty huge, and there are always people rushing around with lanyards and coffee cups. Our space here in Building No. 5 is mostly filled with desks and computers. You get a decent view of the other towers from the windows, which is nice when you need a break from looking at the screen. It is a bit different from a shop on the street because everything is very controlled and the air conditioning is always humming in the background. We have our routines, like getting in early to beat the worst of the traffic on the highway. Most of us at Wood Group Kenny India Private Limited have our own little piles of notes and sketches on our desks. It’s not particularly quiet because there’s always someone talking about a project or a drawing. We go down to the food court for lunch, or sometimes just bring something and eat while we chat. It is a lot of technical work, but we are just regular people trying to get things right. The office gets a bit dim in the late afternoon before the lights really take over. By the time we leave, the city lights are starting to come on across Phase III. It’s just another day in the office for us, and we head back to the parking lot.
