If you head out to IMT Manesar, you'll find us at Plot 102 and 103 in Sector 5. Busch Vacuum India is tucked away in that big industrial sprawl. It’s a long commute for some of us coming from Delhi or Gurgaon, but this is where all the manufacturing happens. We deal with vacuum pumps and blowers. It sounds simple, but these machines go into everything from food packaging to making chemicals. The facility here is quite large because the pumps are heavy and we need space for servicing them. It’s not a quiet place; there’s always the hum of a motor being tested or someone using a wrench. We wear our uniforms, we have our shifts, and we get through the queue of repairs and new builds. The air in Manesar can be pretty rough in the winter, and the roads get muddy when it rains, but we've gotten used to it. We aren't trying to be the biggest thing in the world; we just want the pumps to work so the factories don't stop. Most of our day is spent looking at pressure gauges and oil levels. We have a canteen where we sit and talk about cricket or the news. It’s a straightforward engineering environment. No one here is wearing a suit unless a big group is visiting. Mostly, it’s just grease, metal, and making sure the vacuum stays strong. It’s not for everyone, but we like the routine of it.
