Aakarshan

Aakarshan is located in Shop No. 125 on the first floor of Sahara Mall on M.G. Road. Being in a mall means we’re part of that whole busy atmosphere with the music playing in the hallways and people walking by all the time. Our shop is a bit smaller than some of those big international brand stores, but we like it that way. It feels more personal when you walk in. We spend a lot of time rearranging the shelves and making sure everything looks okay for the people coming in. The air conditioning is nice, especially during the summer heat, but sometimes the mall gets a bit too loud for our liking. We get a real mix of people coming in—shoppers looking for something very specific and others who are just killing time before a movie starts upstairs. We’ve been here for a bit now and have seen many shops around us come and go over the seasons. We just keep our heads down and focus on our own work. It’s not a complicated business. We open the shop when the mall opens and head home when they shut the main doors at night. It can be long hours, especially on holidays or weekends, but we’re used to it by now. We don’t do big fancy launches or parties. We just put out what we have and let people browse at their own pace. It’s a decent place to work and we know the other owners who work on this floor. It stays busy enough for us.
