Down at No. 8 B Industrial Estate here in Batala, we’ve got our workshop running most days. Sahil Alloys Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd. has been part of this industrial patch for quite some time. If you know Batala, you know how much metal and machinery goes through this town. Our floor is usually covered in some kind of metal shavings or oil, and there is always the sound of something being cut or shaped. It gets pretty loud during the peak hours, but that is just how the work goes. We have a crew that has been with us for years, guys who know these machines inside out. We don't spend much time in the office because the real work happens on the floor. It’s hot in the summer and the air smells like iron, but we like it that way. We make parts and tools for other businesses, mostly local ones or people who know someone who knows us. There isn't any fancy lobby or receptionist here. You just walk in and find someone in overalls to talk to. We keep the equipment maintained as well as we can and try to keep up with the orders that come in. It’s a bit messy sometimes, and the paperwork piles up, but the machine tools get finished and sent out on time. That’s really all there is to it. We don't have any flashy brochures. We just show people what we've built. It's a loud, greasy, and honest living.
