You can find Julka Rice & Oil Mills Ltd. over on Batala Road. We are situated in a spot people call Julka Nagar. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there is always the sound of horns and engines in the background while we work. We don't just do rice here; we have the oil mill side of things too, so the smell is a mix of grain and pressed seeds. It’s a unique scent that you get used to after a while. The building is quite large because it has to house two different types of equipment. We have some older sections of the mill that have been around since the start and some newer parts added on later. The walls are a bit stained from the oil and the dust, but that’s just a sign of work being done. Julka Nagar is basically built around this area, so we are right in the thick of it. We don't have a big corporate staff. It’s just the owners and the local guys who know how to run the presses and the hullers. We spend our days making sure nothing breaks down at the wrong time. If you walk down Batala Road, you can’t miss the tall gates. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Most people know we are here because they see the bags being loaded onto the trucks every afternoon. It’s just a regular local business doing its part.
