Judwa Rice Mill

Out on Kauhrian Road, you’ll find us at Judwa Rice Mill. It’s a simple setup we’ve got here. The name Judwa has been on the gate for as long as I can remember. We don’t do anything flashy. Most days it’s just us and the sound of the hulling machines. We have a small yard where the grain sits under tarps when the weather looks like it might turn. The Kauhrian Road isn’t the busiest, but we get enough traffic to keep us on our toes. Sometimes the power goes out, and everything goes silent. Those are the moments we just sit and wait. It gives us a chance to catch up on what’s happening in the families of the men who work here. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a big office or shiny trucks. Our trucks are old and they creak when they are loaded down. We do the work the way it has always been done. The husk piles up in the corner of the lot and we have to move it every few days. It's a dusty job, and your skin gets itchy from the chaff. But at the end of the day, when the sun sets over the fields, it feels okay. We lock the gates, go home, and come back to do it all over again the next morning. It’s just how life goes at Judwa Rice Mill. There isn't much more to tell.
