Delux Foundry

Operating a foundry isn't exactly clean work. Here at Delux Foundry on G.T. Road, things get pretty grimy and hot. That is just the nature of the business when you’re dealing with molten metal and sand molds. We’ve been at this for a long time. The building itself has some character, which is a polite way of saying it’s old and has been repaired more times than I can count. Every morning starts with getting the furnaces ready. It takes a lot of effort to keep everything running smoothly. The guys on the floor are tough; they have to be to work in this heat all day. We make all sorts of castings. Some are small and easy, while others take a lot more planning and heavy lifting. We don’t have a fancy website or a glossy brochure. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for decades. They know where we are on G.T. Road and they know we’ll get the job done eventually. Sometimes things go wrong with a pour, and we have to start over. It’s part of the learning process, even after all these years. We drink a lot of water and try to stay cool in the shade during breaks. It’s not a glamorous life, but there is something satisfying about seeing the liquid metal fill a mold and turn into something useful. We just keep plugging away, day after day.
