Vennela Ice Creams

Vennela Ice Creams is located at Door No-13-5-39 on Durbar Road. We are right near the Sangam Theater, so it gets really busy whenever a new movie comes out. You can hear the music from the cinema from our front step. We mostly sell to people coming out of the shows or families who are out for a walk in the evening. The shop is pretty small, but we managed to fit a few freezers in there. We keep it simple with the flavors, mostly stuff people around here like. Sometimes we run out of certain things when the theater crowd is big, and we have to tell people to wait for the next delivery. It’s just part of the job. My cousin helps me behind the counter most nights because it’s hard for one person to scoop that fast. We’ve got some lights outside so people can see us after the sun goes down. It’s a bit noisy with all the traffic on Durbar Road, but we like being where the action is. We aren't trying to be some big corporate chain. We just want to make sure the ice cream is cold and the shop is open when people are looking for it. Most of the local shopkeepers come by for a cup after they close up their own places. It’s a good little community here and we’ve been part of it for some time now.
