R. k. Eye Centre

R. k. Eye Centre is located in Kothapet, right across from the Anna Srisrinivasa Rao Kalyana Mantapam. It’s a very recognizable spot because of the wedding hall. When there’s a big event over there, our street gets packed with cars and music. We’ve been here for a while now, looking out at the festivities from our front window. The centre is fairly small. We have the testing equipment in the back and a small area for frames in the front. It’s nothing like those big malls. We have some old chairs for people to sit in while they wait for their drops to work. The lighting is bright because we need to see what we’re doing. Sometimes the children from the neighborhood come and peek through the glass. We’ve grown used to the rhythm of Kothapet. Most of our visitors are people who live within walking distance. We don’t have a website or a fancy phone system. If the phone rings, one of us just picks it up. We write down appointments in a big desk calendar. It’s a bit messy sometimes with things crossed out. We try to keep the dust off the lenses, which is a constant job. The staff here is small and we all do a bit of everything. It’s a decent place to work. We don’t use big words or try to impress anyone. We just check eyes and help people see a bit better.
