Kumar Furnitures

We are located at 7/2, Arundelpet. It’s a pretty busy street and our shop, Kumar Furnitures, has been here for a while now. The space is a bit cramped because we keep a lot of wood and half-finished pieces around. It isn't one of those shiny showrooms you see in malls. There is usually dust on the windows and the smell of polish is everywhere. We spend most of our mornings just moving things around to make room to work. Some of the guys have been working here for years and they know the wood better than anyone. We don't really do fancy advertisements or anything like that. People just know where we are. If you walk past, you’ll probably hear the sound of someone sanding down a table leg or hammering something together. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. Sometimes we run out of space and have to stack things up high. We deal with all sorts of people from the neighborhood. It’s nice to see a finished cupboard go out the door on a rickshaw. We just focus on making things that don't fall apart after a month. It’s a simple life here in Arundelpet. The tea stall next door is where we spend our breaks. We don't have a big office or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll just find us working on whatever order came in that week.
