Viswam Crafts

You can find us in the Roop Sadan Complex, specifically over in Block 4 in Arundelpet. The complex is an older building, and we’ve been in this particular block for a while. It’s a bit of a walk up the stairs, and the hallways can be a bit dim. We have our workspace filled with all kinds of materials for the crafts. There are scraps of fabric, beads, and tools scattered across the tables. It’s not the most organized place, but we know exactly where everything is hidden. Arundelpet is a busy commercial area, so there’s always something happening outside. We usually have the windows open to get some air, even if it brings in the street noise. The neighbors in the complex are mostly other small businesses, so we all know each other. We don't have a big showroom or anything like that. People usually come in and see us working right there at the main table. Sometimes we have tea together while we figure out a difficult design. The floor is covered in small bits of thread and paper by the end of the day. We don't really bother with fancy decorations for the walls; we just pin up sketches or notes we need to remember. It’s a humble way to spend the day, making things by hand. It’s quiet work for the most part, and we enjoy the steady rhythm of it in our little corner of Block 4.
