Our place is located in Bank Colony, over in the village of Sehal. It’s near Shivasereng and the Ghaghra police station in Gumla. Finding us isn't too hard if you're familiar with the local landmarks around there. We are Vanmayi Builders and we mostly handle contracting work for folks in the neighborhood and nearby villages. The office is really just a simple room where we keep our papers and talk to people about their building plans. Gumla is a quiet place most of the time, and we like it that way. We get a lot of work from word of mouth, which is how things usually work in Sehal. Sometimes the supply trucks take a while to get out here because of the roads, but we manage. It’s hard work, being outside in the sun all day, but it’s what we know. There are a few of us who have been doing this for years now. We don't have a big website or anything, just this physical spot where people can find us. If you’re passing through Bank Colony, you might see us moving materials or checking on a project. We focus on getting the structures up so families have a place to stay. It’s practical work. We use local materials when we can. Every project has its own set of problems, like getting the right grade of sand or dealing with the wind, but we just figure them out as we go. That’s just the way it is with contracting work around here. We just try to stay busy.
