We are part of the A Bk Birla Group operations here in the Gulbarga district of Karnataka. Since we’re right in the company colony, we live and breathe the cement business every single day. It’s a bit different from a normal office because it’s also where people live and have their families. The whole area is built around the factory and the work we do. We spend our time going over the manifestos and making sure the transport schedules are actually being followed by the drivers. It’s a lot of mundane work, like checking numbers and talking to the transporters who come through the gates. There’s no corporate fluff here. We wear regular clothes and deal with the dust just like everyone else on the site. Sedam is a very hot place, and the colony can get pretty quiet during the afternoon when everyone is inside. We’ve been operating from this quarter for quite a while now. It’s practical and it keeps us close to the action at the main plant. We don’t have a fancy website or a sales team. We just handle the day-to-day logistics that keep the supply moving. Most of us have been here for a long time.
