Vardhaman Rice Mill

Vardhaman Rice Mill is located in the Moulali Antur area, specifically near Mata Manikeshwari and Nelaya in I Nagar. If you look behind the English Medium Public School, you’ll find us. It’s a bit of a tucked-away spot, but the noise of the machinery usually lets people know we’re working. There is a lot of space here to process the rice. The sound of the hulls being stripped is constant during the day. Much of the time involves monitoring the machines and making sure the grain flows smoothly through the pipes. It’s a dusty environment, so we wear old clothes that we don’t mind getting dirty. Kids from the school often walk past on their way home, adding to the noise outside. Huge piles of sacks wait to be filled and moved. The lighting inside isn't great, but every inch of the floor is known by heart. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the big shipments come in. A website or fancy brochures aren't things we have. People just know our location near the school and bring their grain to us. We’ve been doing this for years, and it’s a steady rhythm. Work starts early when the air is still cool and finishes up once the last batch is done. It’s just how things are at the mill in I Nagar. We keep it running and try to stay out of the heat, even on the hottest days of the year.
