Sitnoor Jewellers

I’m sitting here at Sitnoor Jewellers inside the Mahalaxmi Complex. It’s a bit of a quiet morning today, which is normal for this time of the week. The sun is hitting the glass counters just right, showing all the dust I probably should have wiped off earlier. We’ve been in this spot for a while now. Most people know the complex, it’s got that specific smell of old stone and floor cleaner. I usually start the day by unlocking the heavy shutters and then turning on all the display lights one by one. It takes a minute for the tubes to stop flickering. Sometimes the neighbors from the other shops pop in just to say hello or talk about the traffic on the way in. It gets busy later in the afternoon when people finish their work and stop by to browse. I spend a lot of my time looking at the little details under the magnifying lamp. My chair creaks every time I lean back, which is something I keep meaning to fix but never get around to doing. The floor is that speckled tile that stays cool even when it’s hot outside. I keep a small radio behind the counter, mostly just for some background noise so it isn't too silent when I’m alone in the shop. You can hear the muffled sounds of the street outside the complex, but in here, it’s mostly just the ticking of the wall clock. It’s a steady kind of life, surrounded by these gold and silver items every single day.
