It is a very busy stretch of road with a lot of heavy trucks and people moving back and forth between the plant and the town. Our building isn't anything special to look at, just a functional space where we handle the daily business tasks. Inside, the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, and the floor always has a thin layer of grey dust no matter how much we sweep it. That is just part of life when you work near a cement works. We have got a small crew here and we have been together for years. We spend the morning catching up on what happened overnight and then it is just a stream of people coming in for paperwork or asking for directions to the loading bay. The Malkhed Road area is always humming with noise from the engines. We do not have any fancy mission statements or slogans hanging on the walls. We just have a big calendar and a bunch of clipboards. It is a practical way to run things. Most of the guys here have lived in Gulbarga their whole lives, so we know every corner of this district. We just show up and do our jobs.
