About National Pulses – Food & Beverages in Gulbarga
Out here on Shahbad Road, in the Nendur Kesaratgi Industrial Area, the air is often thick with the smell of the earth and the pulses we process at National Pulses. It’s a big, open space and there is always some kind of machinery running in the background. We spend our days watching the machines sort through the crops, making sure everything is moving along the belts correctly. The trucks come in from the farms all dusty from the road, and we spend a lot of time unloading and weighing things. It’s a lot of physical work, and by the end of the shift, everyone is usually covered in a fine layer of dust. We have a small room where we sit to eat our lunch and get away from the noise for thirty minutes. The industrial area isn't much to look at, just a lot of grey buildings and gravel roads, but it’s where we do our work. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend hours trying to get them going again, which can be frustrating. We don't have any fancy signs or a big lobby. It’s just the mill and the warehouse and a few of us trying to keep up with the harvest seasons. It’s hard work, and the sun can be brutal out here on the road, but we’ve been doing this for a long time now and we know the routine. We just keep our heads down and work.
