Kothari Eyecare & Phaco Centre

Our eye center is situated right at S.v. Patel Chowk. It’s a location that’s easy enough for most people to point out when they are navigating this part of town. We spend our days doing eye exams and helping people who can't see as well as they used to. The phaco part of the name is for the cataract work we do here, which is a big part of our weekly schedule. The building is simple and set up specifically to handle the equipment needed for checking vision and doing minor procedures. In the mornings, you’ll see people waiting for their eye drops to work so the doctor can take a proper look. It’s a steady pace, not usually too frantic, but we stay occupied from opening to closing. The lobby has rows of chairs lined up, and there’s usually a news channel playing on a small TV to keep people occupied while they wait. We have been here a long time, and many of the people who come in are regulars or live just a few streets away. The staff knows how to handle the different testers and machines without needing to think about it too much. It’s just an honest, local eye clinic. We don't try to be anything more than that. When the sun hits the street outside, it gets pretty bright, so a lot of patients leave wearing those dark temporary glasses. It’s just the way things work here at the Chowk.
