Lodhva is a quiet place, or at least it would be if it weren’t for the cement work. Our office is right here At and Post Lodhva, which basically means we are at the heart of the village area near the operations. Gujarat Sidhee Cement Ltd is a big part of the life here. The office is very basic, just a few rooms with sturdy tables and some old chairs. We get a lot of dust blowing in from the roads, so everything has a thin gray layer on it by the end of the day. We don’t mind it much. Most of us are local people, so we know everyone who walks through the door. We handle a lot of the direct logistics and site-level management. It’s a lot of talking to drivers and checking the weight of loads. There isn't much in the way of shops nearby, so we usually bring our own tiffin from home. The pace here can be slow one minute and then completely frantic the next when a line of trucks shows up. We don't have fancy computers for everything; a lot of stuff is still noted down in physical registers. It’s a straightforward way of working that suits the location. We are out in the elements quite a bit, so we don't worry about looking polished. It’s about getting the product moved out to where it’s needed.
