R. V. Leathers

Down in the Vellore district, specifically in Pulliyankannu, you’ll find R. V. Leathers. We are located at No. 3/1098 - A in Thiruvalluvar Nagar. This area has a lot of history with leather, and we are just one of the many spots where people work with their hands. Our place is fairly simple. We deal with hides and finished leather goods every day. It’s a bit of a messy job, and the smell of the leather is something you never really get out of your clothes. But we like it. We aren't a high-end boutique with bright lights. It’s more of a workshop where we spend most of our time at the benches. We’ve got stacks of material everywhere. The neighborhood is mostly workers and families, so it feels like home to us. We don't have a big office or a secretary. If you call, one of us will probably answer with grease or dye on our hands. We take things as they come. Some weeks are quiet, and then suddenly we’ll have a mountain of work to get through. We just keep our heads down and stay at it. It’s been our way of life for a long time now. We aren't interested in being some global corporation. We just want to do our work well here in Thiruvalluvar Nagar and keep the business going for another year. It is honest labor and that is enough for us.
