Sri Rama Rice Industries

Sri Rama Rice Industries is found on NH 4, Sira Road in Oorkere. We are right beside the Jain School, so we hear the kids playing and shouting during their breaks. Being on the national highway means there are always big trucks and cars zooming past at all times. Our place is more of an industrial spot for rice. It is a large space with a lot of machinery and high ceilings that echo. The noise of the processing is pretty constant throughout the day. We have big piles of paddy waiting to be worked on and moved around. It is a heavy job with a lot of manual labor involved for the staff here. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of the rice being processed, which you eventually get used to. We don’t have a fancy entrance or a lobby for visitors. You just walk into the main area where the work happens. Oorkere is a decent place to be located because of the highway access. It makes it much easier for the transport trucks to come in and out with the loads of grain. Beside the school, it is a bit of a contrast with the quiet school grounds and our loud machines running. We just keep our heads down and get the rice ready for the market. It is hard work, but it is what we have always done at this location. We just keep the motors running and the bags moving along.
