Fashion Diffusion

Down here in Udyog Kendra- 1 at Eco Tech 3, things are a bit more industrial. It is a big area with lots of sheds and units. Our space is where we do all the heavy lifting for the clothes we put together. We get these big deliveries of fabric on trucks, and it takes a while to unload everything. The space is mostly open so we can spread out the long tables for cutting. It gets dusty, especially when the wind blows through the bay doors, so we are always cleaning up. We don't have a fancy front office. If you come by, you’ll probably find us wearing aprons and covered in lint. We do things in batches. One week we might be doing nothing but pants, and the next it is all jackets. It depends on what the orders look like. The guys working here have been doing this for a long time. They know how to listen to the machines to tell if something is going wrong. We eat lunch together on the crates outside when the weather is nice. It isn't a glamorous job, but we like the feeling of finishing a big pile of work. We don't really worry about trends or what people are wearing in the big cities. We just focus on getting the stitches straight and making sure the buttons don't fall off. The overhead lights are bright and the floor is hard, but it is a good place to work. We just keep our heads down and get the job done for whoever needs it.
