Sangha Clinic

Sangha Clinic is right in the middle of Sadar Bazaar in Sultanpur Lodhi. It is a very crowded area with shops selling everything from cloth to groceries. If you walk down the main street of the bazaar, you will find us easily. There is always a lot of shouting and the sound of cycle bells outside our door. The clinic is just a small shopfront that we have converted. It has high ceilings and old fans that hum while they spin. We have a bench outside for people to sit on if the inside gets too full. In Sultanpur Lodhi, everyone knows everyone, so a lot of people just pop their heads in to say hello while they are doing their shopping. We keep our medicines on wooden shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling. Sometimes we need a stool to reach the ones at the top. The floor is made of old stone and it stays cool even when it is hot outside. We do not have a computer system, just a thick notebook where we write down names and what people need. It is an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. The afternoon sun hits the front of the clinic pretty hard, so we usually keep the heavy curtain drawn. Most of the families around here have been coming to this spot for a long time. It is just a part of the bazaar life.
