This shop is located at the Roadways Tiraha in Gandhi Nagar, which is a busy three-way junction. Being near Mishra Clinic means there are always people around, whether they are waiting for a bus or heading to see the doctor. We deal with iron and steel, so the place is mostly filled with long rods, sheets, and heavy metal pieces. It is a very physical place to work. You won't find anything soft or delicate here; it is all hard edges and heavy lifting. The floor is concrete and usually has some rust stains or metal shavings scattered around. We spend a lot of time loading and unloading trucks that come through the Tiraha. The noise from the traffic outside is constant, especially the buses from the roadway. We do not have a fancy office area; it is mostly just a desk in the corner where we keep the ledger and take payments. My clothes usually end up with some orange rust marks by the end of the shift. It is just the nature of the business. We keep things moving, helping people pick out what they need for their construction or repair work. It can be quite loud when we have to move the larger iron pipes around, clanging against each other. There isn't much shade outside, so we stay under the roof as much as possible when the sun is high. It is a basic, hard-working environment for everyone involved.
