Larsen & Toubro

We are set up over at the U.P. State Sugar Corp unit in Siswa Bazar. If you are looking for us, we are tied to the place where Vasheem Ansari, son of Atahar Husain, is usually found. Being in the Maharajganj district means we are right in the thick of things with the sugar corporation. It is a busy place, especially when the season is right and the trucks are lined up. The air usually smells a bit like molasses and earth. Our office inside the unit is small and filled with files. We don't have any of those modern office decorations. It’s mostly just calendars on the walls and old ledgers. Larsen & Toubro has us here to handle specific tasks, and we just stick to that. The fans hum all day long to keep the heat away. We see a lot of people coming and going because of the sugar mill. It’s a loud place sometimes with the machinery running nearby, but we have gotten used to it. We drink tea from the stall just outside the gate and talk about the day's work. There is no corporate ladder here, just a team of guys making sure things don't fall apart. We aren't looking for praise, just trying to keep the machines and the paperwork moving through the system. We've been here for a while and the routine stays pretty much the same every single day we come in.
