Eyetouch Foundation

The Eyetouch Foundation is located over in the Asuran area of Gorakhpur, specifically care of Maya Devi. It’s a local setup, very much rooted in the community here. We don’t have a massive building or a glass-fronted office like those companies in the big cities; we work out of a modest space that feels more like a community hub. Most of our day is spent talking to folks who live nearby and seeing how we can help with basic needs. The name Eyetouch came from a desire to really see and connect with people on a personal level, rather than just being a name on a piece of paper. Asuran is a busy part of Gkp, and there is always something happening right outside our door, which keeps things interesting. We aren't fancy people. We wear regular clothes, we speak the local language, and we don't use those big words that confuse everyone who comes in. Sometimes the place gets a bit loud when everyone is talking at once, but that’s just the energy of the foundation. We focus on the things that matter to the families around here. It might be a bit messy with flyers and donation boxes scattered around the room, but we know where everything is. We’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time, and being at Maya Devi’s place gives us a sense of home while we work. It’s just about being there for the people who know us.
