Bharatiya Kissan Ghar

Our shop, number 117, is right on Railway Station Road. You can hear the whistles of the trains all day long. It is a busy stretch of road because everyone is rushing to catch a ride or heading into town from the platform. Because of the location, we get a lot of people just dropping in for a minute. We sell things that farmers need, like hand tools or small supplies for their homes. The shelves are a bit cluttered, and we sometimes have to move three things just to find the one someone asked for. There is usually a layer of soot from the trains on the window sills. We don't have any air conditioning, so we keep the front door wide open even when it is dusty outside. Sometimes the monkeys from the station area come near the shop looking for food. We spend a lot of time standing behind the counter talking to customers about their work. It’s a very plain shop with a simple wooden counter and a few old stools. We don't do any big advertising. People just know we are here because of the sign out front. It is a bit worn out now, but you can still read it. We just keep doing what we do, day after day, while the trains come and go. It’s a bit of a hectic spot to work in.
