Bannariamman Traders

Our shop is out in Village Ghacha, which is part of the Tarabganj area. We are pretty close to the Maharaj Paramhans Inter College, so we see a lot of students and teachers walking by during the day. It’s a rural setting, very different from the big cities. Life moves at a different pace here. At Bannariamman Traders, we mostly just handle local trade. It’s not a fancy operation. We have a small building and we keep our supplies there. The college is a big landmark for us, so whenever we have to give someone directions, we just tell them to look for that. The village is quiet for the most part, except for when school starts or ends. We know most of our customers by name since they live nearby. It’s the kind of place where you stop and talk for a bit before getting down to business. We don't have a website or anything like that usually, just people coming in. We keep track of things in our ledgers and try to make sure everything is in order. It’s just us doing what we’ve always done. The weather affects things here quite a bit, especially during the rains, but we manage to keep the doors open and the work going regardless. The college students sometimes come in asking for small things, and it’s nice to see their energy. We have been here so long that we’ve seen some of those students grow up and start their own farms. It’s a good feeling.
