Shreenath Rice Mill

You can find Shreenath Rice Mill right near the water tank on the Main Road. It’s on the way to the Amgaon Kamtha Airport Road. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there’s always something happening outside. We started this mill to process the local grain, and we’ve been at it ever since. The water tank is a good landmark because everyone knows it. We have a few sheds where we keep the paddy before it goes into the huller. The noise of the engines is something we’ve all grown used to. It’s just the sound of work. We don’t have any fancy titles here. Someone handles the bags, someone watches the machines, and someone else talks to the drivers. We eat our lunch together under the shade when it gets too hot. The location near the airport road means we see a lot of transit, but we mostly deal with what’s right in front of us. It’s a practical business. We don't spend money on decorations or big signs. The name is painted on the wall and that’s about it. Life at the mill is about the cycle of the crops. When the farmers are busy, we are busy. When things slow down, we fix the roofs or clean the equipment. It’s an honest way to make a living. We’ve been here long enough that the place feels like a second home to most of the workers. We just do our bit and keep the mill running day after day.
