Pawar Traders

Pawar Traders is located in Umranala, right on the Nagpur Road. We are very close to the bus stand, so there are always travelers walking past our door. You can hear the conductors shouting the names of the next stops all day long. The shop gets a lot of dust from the buses pulling in and out. We have piles of sacks and boxes stacked up against the walls. Some days are very slow, and we just sit on the wooden stools and watch the traffic go by toward Nagpur. Other days, we are so busy moving stock that we forget to eat lunch on time. The building is older, with high ceilings and a heavy metal shutter that we pull down at night. We don't have a big sign, just our name. Inside, it smells like grain and old paper. The light comes in from the front, but the back of the store stays cool and dim. We know the regular drivers who stop here for a break. Sometimes they bring us news from the other towns. We use an old calculator for all our math, and the buttons are a bit sticky. It is a simple life of buying and selling whatever is needed in this part of Umranala. We just keep things moving and try to stay out of the midday sun. The floor is dusty, but that’s just how it is when you’re this close to the main road.
