You can find our office right inside Jaiswal Stationeries and General Stores at Manohar Square. It is a bit of a unique setup because we share the space with the shop. Sometimes it gets a little crowded when students are coming in to buy pens or notebooks, but we have our own corner where we keep our project files and ledgers. Mr. Jaiswal is usually around to help out with things. Being in a place like Gondia means that most people know where we are without us needing a big sign out front. We spend a lot of our time out in the field checking on materials and progress, so the store is really just our home base for the administrative stuff. It is a very practical way to work and it keeps us connected to the neighborhood. There are no glass walls or air-conditioned lobbies here. We just have a few sturdy desks and some chairs where we sit and talk about the day's work. Sometimes we stay and chat with the locals who drop by the shop. We have been operating this way for a long time and it seems to work well for us. It is a straightforward business and we do not see any need to make it more complicated than it is. If we are not at the desk, someone in the shop usually knows where we have gone and when we will be back.
